Kurt Jooss was born in Jan. 12, 1901, Wasseralfingen. He was
a German dancer, teacher, and choreographer whose dance dramas combined
Expressionistic modern-dance movements with fundamental ballet technique. Jooss was noted for establishing several dance companies, including most notably, the
Folkwang Tanztheater, in Essen.

ReplyDeleteWell, Jooss was the first choreographer who combined the basic techniques of classical ballet and modern dance expressionism. He presented plenty of modern ideas in dramatic ballet works, he thought techniques of classical ballet were insufficient to reflect modern themes.
ReplyDeleteAs I know about Kurt Jooss, he was a great choreographer that combined his expressionistic modern-dance movements with fundamental ballet technique.He expanded the technical and thematic range of theatrical dance.
ReplyDeleteEach movement in Kurt Jooss's Dance-Drama carried dramatic value and he focused attention objectively on social realities through humor and satire instead of subjective moralization.
